What’s new at Professor Why? #1

Although the official release of Professor Why™: The Quantum Eye is scheduled for the 1st of December we did not back down with our other product Professor Why™ Chemistry. Lately, we have participated in several significant events, as well as, received a commendation in a national contest, so we decided to prepare a brief insight into the life of the company over the last few weeks. What’s new at Professor Why? :)

1. Toy of the Year 2015 Commendation

On 14th of November, web portal zabawkowicz.pl organized, in Ożarowo Mazowieckie, the creative workshops as a part of the Toy of the Year 2015 contest (Zabawka roku 2015). The event featured dozens of products designed with children in mind, including toys, educational games, accessories and other gadgets. These were evaluated by the participating children and jury of stars including but not limited to actresses Anna Dereszowska, Violetta Kołakowska, Katarzyna Zielińska, Katarczyna Cichopek and journalists represented by Magdalena Kordaszewska, Karolina Malinowska, Dorota Gardias, Beata Sadowska and Anna Wendzikowska. All presented products were judged in terms of creativity, safety of use, aesthetics and utility.

Professor Why joined the competition with his leading product – the game Professor Why™ Chemistry in set with educards and keychain. The jury appreciated the implementation of the cutting-edge technology, which is Augmented Reality, in educational games, as well as, accessible form of the presented chemical experiments and the idea to teach through play. We were overjoyed to see how kids liked the game along with the known show business figures, who appeared to be highly impressed by our product. It especially appealed to Karolina Malinowska, to who we would like to send our best regards.

The 18th of November marked the day when the results of the contest Toy of the Year 2015 were revealed – Professor Why™ Chemistry received a commendation! J It is yet another success of our product, above all, because the final decision was made by the children, whose opinions are the essential guidelines for our company.

2. The Fun and Games Fair held in AmberExpo 21-22 of November

It was our second participation in the Fun and Games Fair in Gdańsk. Although, the event revolved mainly around board games, many computer game enthusiasts were also present. Little did they suspect that there was a tasty morsel awaiting for them as Professor Why™ Chemistry was the only product of its kind presented during the fair and we can gladly state that its reception was astonishingly positive. :) Some people were familiar with our company, as we actively take part in events all around Tricity, for others our game was something completely new, nevertheless, everyone who visited our stand enjoyed their stay. It was nice to see fascinated children conducting chemical experiments in the virtual laboratory of Professor Why, moreover, they often had to compete for the game time with their parents, who apparently wanted to join in the fun 😉

Recorded material with Mateusz Cybula, the Professor Why’s Marketing Manager is available on Pomorska.tv.

3. Professor Why and Mom-bloggers

We know that the daily life of a parent isn’t easy – or at least that is what our chairman, an experienced, full time father, says. 😉 It occurred to us that we should make use of children’s fascination with Professor Why™ Chemistry to help parents out. Nowadays, moments when children are engulfed in productive activities are rare to find, shops are filled with stupefying toys and games which promote malevolent behavior (no matter how we look at it, running around with a machine gun and shooting people can’t be considered a “good behavior”). That is why parents more often struggle between a moment of relax and clear conscience – you never know whether your child entertain itself by slaughtering some village in the virtual world, while you are occupied with other stuff. On the other hand, by buying Professor Why™ Chemistry you can enjoy a guilt free bit of peace, knowing that at the same time your child broadens its knowledge in the wonderful world of science and learns to be curious about the everyday phenomena that surrounds it.

And that is how our surprise for blogging Moms came into being – we have sent them the game Professor Why™ Chemistry along with some ideas of how to enjoy the moment of peace, while kids play little chemists 😉 See for yourself how Mom-bloggers liked those presents :) One of them, Annie from the blog Dziecięce Klimaty wrote a post about us! :) You can find it here.

4. BeZee Conference and other events

How organizers described BeZee: “it is a hand reached towards the younger generation, sail set for the future, an answer to a need of progress and creation of new communication methods between teachers and students. BeZee meaning Be Generation Z! Is a dose of information and practical knowledge, a source of inspiration and solutions how to improve the education system.” Professor Why couldn’t miss this opportunity as our company believes that “OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON OUR KIDS” 😉 During the conference, held 18th of November in European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk, we received a chance to introduce ourselves to hundreds of participants from education industry from all around the world. On our specially prepared stand we were able to exhibit our leading product – Professor Why™ Chemistry. Of course we didn’t miss the opportunity to inform about the incoming release of Professor Why™: The Quantum Eye 😉

Another noteworthy, recent event that we attended was “New information & communication technologies in schools” conference (“Nowoczesne technologie informacyjno-komunikacyjne w szkole”) organized by the Polish Teachers’ Union Branch in Częstochowa. There, Professor Why’s representative had the pleasure of delivering a lecture entitled “Augmented Reality in education: Professor Why”.

That’s not everything, lately Professor Why hosted students from Faculty of Management and Economy of Gdańsk University of technology and our CTO was once again invited to take part in Radio Gdańsk broadcast “People and money”.

As you can see last few weeks were very busy for Professor Why – many business events, Toy of the Year 2015 contest and collaboration with the blogosphere. Simultaneously, as the release of The Quantum Eye draws near, we are also very active in other areas. The game will be available on Steam Early Access from 1st of December – more about the game and its release in the next post. If you are interested in the story behind our new game click here. 😉
